Jointly manages the investment process, including sourcing, evaluation, monitoring and measurement, decision-making, and risk-oversight functions. Along with Ben Appen sets strategy and direction of the firm.
Previously, Mr. Hall was managing director and global head of UBS’s alternative asset management (“AAM”) business. Under his leadership, it grew from an idea to a several billion dollar multi-strategy hedge-fund operation. Beginning in 1995, Mr. Hall was responsible for all aspects of the business including investing, operations, risk control, marketing, and new business development. He spent the majority of his time serving as chief investment officer of AAM’s $2 billion global macro hedge fund, identifying and exploiting opportunities in currency and interest rate markets.
Mr. Hall began his career in 1987 as a floor trader for O’Connor & Associates. In 1991, he moved to Singapore to build an Asian foreign exchange derivatives trading business for O’Connor and Swiss Bank. In 1992, he relocated to Switzerland to manage the firm’s European FX derivatives business, which was then the largest in the world. Following Swiss Bank’s purchase of O’Connor, Mr. Hall ran Swiss Bank’s FX trading business in London and the firm’s global FX proprietary trading business.
Mr. Hall received a B.S. in chemical engineering, magna cum laude, from the University of Illinois.
